Today we began improving our writing by visiting Pobble 365. We looked at the stimulus and examples of what other stage 3 students wrote. Captivating our audience was our main goal. For our students who find it difficult to get their thoughts on paper we used the speech to text option in Google Slides.
Here is our work.
Today we worked with either a partner or small group to work on one of our reading strategies- inferencing. Below is the image we needed to look at and ask questions about what we could actually see and what our background knowledge was telling us about the image.
Next , we split into our groups and worked on what we could actually see in the image and what was infeered in the image.
Next we then blended with another group to share our ideas. Tomorrow we will be formulating our thoughts into questions and sentences.
We commenced our Public Speaking this week. Whether students took part this week was dependant upon which country the students had decided to research. This week it was Japan.
We were very fortunate this week to have 2 students give us a Japanese treat along with their speeches. A HUGE thank you to both Sophia's and Serena's Mums.
For the next 3 weeks we will be taking part in Japanese lessons with Mrs Hunter from our local high school. This week we were learning about the numbers 1 to 10 in Japanese - not only saying but also recognising the symbols as well,
This week we have been researching Japanese dragons and comparing them to Chinese dragons. Students were given the task of of using dragon images to create their own.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work and we pay our respects to the Elders both past and present.
