On Wednesday we started our writing program. First the students watched this video.
On the second viewing they all received a post it note and then had to write down 3 feelings that the children in the film might have been feeling.
They were then asked to form groups. Some wanted to be individuals, others worked with a partner, others with three in their group and yet more groups with four members. The groups were not to be larger than four members.
Then the students need to write an ACROSTIC poem about marshmallows and the words they had written down were the basis for the poems. Next was the exciting part where they drafted their poem, ensuring all words were there.
Now normally , an ACROSTIC poem is written downwards with the beginning letters of the lines spelling the word, in this case, MARSHMALLOW.
We did something different- we turned our ACROSTIC poem into a sketchnote.
Here are some of the completed ones and you can also see the way we work together..
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work and we pay our respects to the Elders both past and present.
